Socio-economic factors have been responsible for the desertification of the interior of the country, leaving countless buildings to be neglected and abandoned. The lack of opportunities, support and incentives have been errors of public policies that do not reverse this trend. With desertification and everything that results from it, something that is not palpable is lost, history is lost, culture is lost.
In this surrealist representation, the artist combines two cultural symbols present in the region. The windmills, once icons of the local economies, are now extinct and become just another pile of rocks on the mountain. And the red-billed rook Pyrrhocorax pyrrhocorax, now considered an endangered bird.
It is imperative to preserve culture, care for habitats and preserve species, only in this way will history continue to be written.

Fatores socio-económicos têm sido responsáveis pela desertificação do interior do país, deixando ao alheio e entregue ao abandono inúmeros edificados. A falta de oportunidades, apoios e incentivos têm sido erros das políticas públicas que não revertem esta tendência.
Com a desertificação e tudo o que dela resulta, perde-se algo que não é palpável, perde-se história, perde-se cultura.
Nesta representação surrealista o artista combina dois símbolos culturais presentes na região. Os moinhos de vento, outrora, ícones das economias locais, hoje extintos e apenas mais um monte de pedras na montanha. E a gralha-de-bico-vermelho Pyrrhocorax pyrrhocorax, hoje considerada uma ave em perigo de extinção.
É imperativo preservar a cultura, cuidar habitats e preservar espécies, somente assim se continuará a escrever a história.
